30 Birdies Day #2: Chickadee

My dad made me a birdhouse this spring and it was quickly inhabited by a pair of Chickadees, they are just so cute! I have enjoyed watching them from my kitchen window as they flutter around the yard. I imagine their family to be quite adorable!

30 Birdies Day #1: Herring Gulls

I decided to participate in 30 Days of Creativity again this year, so hopefully I will be creating something every day throughout the month of June. This year, my project is focused on birds, specifically those that are common to Minnesota.

My first post is of two sweet seagulls. However, they really should be called Herring Gulls, as my birdie BFF likes to remind me.

It has been so lovely to wake up to birds chirping outside our window the past few months. I don't realize how much I have missed them until they return with their frenzied chatter. I found this neat little collection of bird images via Children's Illustration blog.

Daily Pattern: Dawn Chorus

I took a small blog break, but now I'm back! Things are a bit hectic and overwhelming at the moment, so to cope with the stress I am making more patterns-yay!

I always forget, until the weather starts to thaw a bit, how much I love to hear the birds chirping away in the morning. It's such a great way to start the day. The weather right now is beyond fantastic-let's hope it sticks around for real this time!

Happy (Early) Valentine's!

How sweet is this little guy? That Valentine tucked under his wing is just for you!

I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, well the whole $50 dinner/roses/chocolates/expectations part of it at least. But I do love all of the pink and red, and the homemade cards. When I was younger making Valentine's cards was almost a two month long process. My friends and I could barely wait until Christmas was over and then we would hole ourselves up in my parent's basement with yards of lace, piles of construction paper and bottles of glitter. These days the aisles of Target are filled with pre-made cards-it makes my heart a little sad to see one of my favorite past times pushed aside for cookie cutter consumerism. Anyway, I decided to make a card this year to commemorate all the fun I had making Valentines growing up.

Oh, and I always enjoyed the my-size box of chocolates dad would give me so I would not feel left out when mom received hers. One of the many reasons why my dad is just so great.
