On My Bookshelf: The Bottom Of The Sea

Hello Friends, it's been a while! I have been slacking lately, summer is flying by and I have been trying to make the most of it. I have been squeezing in lots of beach time with friends, lawn games and lounging in the garden with good books. And speaking of books, I have found some little gems lately!

I share with you The Bottom Of The Sea, written by Augusta Goldin and illustrated by Ed Emberley, Copyright 1966.

I like this book for many reasons, the minimal color scheme, the illustrations, and the instructive format (I swoon over graphs and charts-nerd alert, I know!). However, this book is grand because it reminds me so much of The Life Aquatic, by my most favorite director, Wes Anderson. While I don't think that movie was his best storyline, the visuals and the acting of Bill Murray are superb.

This quirky little book was a lucky find at my lovely local library, enjoy!

  1. Squeee I see it too. I'm a huge Wes Anderson fan girl! He's my most favorite as well, what's your favorite of favorites by him? Mine is The Royal Tenebaums!

  2. Royal Tenebaums is by far my most favorite movie, probably ever! But I love many of his others for the visuals and scenes, he's pure genius!

And I assume you have heard about the stop motion Fantastic Mr. Fox that he is directing? It's out this fall and it looks AMAZING! I am so excited about it!
