What I Wore & Because I Need More Things To Update...
Yes, it's true. I started a Tumblr because it's a quick and easy way for me to post the bits and pieces of projects that I am working on. Oh my, we will see how long this lasts!
Last week, as a little challenge, I decided to sketch what I wore to work each day. I think I was channeling Anna Wintour while drawing these. Obviously, I wanted to appear intimidating. LOL.

30 Days of Creativity: Day #17
I have been packing and moving like a mad woman, and we still have SO much to do! Gosh I hate moving! So needless to say, it's been tough to find time to create. This evening I finally had a spare minute to re-work a shoe pattern that I had originally made some time ago. Here it is in three different color schemes.

On My Bookshelf: 100 Years of Fashion Illustration
I love this book, LOVE it. It has so many beautiful images, I could have scanned them all. It's so interesting to see how the fashions and illustration style have transformed through time.

Fun Find: Halloween Illustrations
I'm at home on a Saturday night parked on the couch, recovering from an insane week while surfing the web for interesting things. I found these creepy cool illustrations by Kiersten Essenpreis on the HOW blog. Fun right? Of course I love them for their Charles Addams-like qualities.

Inspiration: Michael Sanderson

While browsing Design Dust this morning, I came across these AMAZING fashion illustrations by Michael Sanderson. Aren't they just beautiful? I can't decide which is my favorite-I am torn between the perfume bottle (love the splattered effect) and the man in shorts with the New Yorker (love the angle and crop). These illustrations have such an elegant quality to them, that I wish I could bring into my own work a bit more often.
Happy Weekend everyone!

A Little Sketch
Ack! It's been forever again since my last post, time is flying by way too quickly! I am panicking because summer is almost over and there is still so much I want to do. I really will try to be better about blogging though, I promise! Here's a little doodle that I have been working on over the past week, a few minutes at a time.

Kat Macleod

While browsing Design Dust this evening I came across the work of Kat Macleod. I heart her work so much! I really want to incorporate more textures and pattern into my illustrations and her work so inspiring. Oh my!And I added this book to my Amazon wish list, (it's getting dangerously long!) because it looks fantastic. The title? So clever! It comes out in April and you had better believe it will be one of my birthday wishes.

Crazy Sketching Fun Time.
So tonight while watching Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, I created this hot mess of a sketch. I am trying to experiment with different styles, but I am not sure how I feel about this one...or about this movie. Love Michael Cera, not so sure he is at his best here. Although, there was some pretty sweet hand drawn type during the opening credits!
This evening has been kind of bland all around I guess. One thing I can rave about is the new album I have been jamming to lately. I am a huge Bird and the Bee fan, and their new disc, Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future dropped last week. It's fantastic, in my opinion. I have had track #3 on constant repeat. Plus, the album cover is quite cool.

Okay, this has been a totally random post, I apologize. Once the chaos dies down, I hope to post more coherently.

On a political note, kind of.
How amazing was the inauguration that took place this week? All of the people, the music, Aretha Franklin's hat-that only she could pull off-it was a pretty fantastic moment in our nation's history. I have been an avid Obama fan from the beginning and so I was overjoyed by Tuesday's events. I must say that the Obama family is the cutest ever-the girls? Adorable.I am thoroughly impressed by Mrs. Obama. What an intelligent, educated and classy woman-such a refreshing change! When I found out that the smart lime green outfit she was wearing was made by Isabel Toledo, I was even more excited. Isabel, wife of Ruben Toledo, an amazing fashion illustrator, who is probably most well known for his gorgeous Nordstrom ads, has had a clothing line for some time now. While she has been kind of under the radar, I have a feeling she will become more of a household name after everyone saw how stunning Michelle looked on Tuesday. They truly are a power couple (both the Toledo's and the Obama's!).

I firmly believe that Obama is everything we need right now and I am so impressed with all that he has accomplished thus far. I am happy we have a young family in the White House and I look forward to spending the next four years with them. Politics aside, I am also slighty giddy about having a new fashion icon to watch, however petty and insignificant that may be.
