Inspiration: Mary Blair

Mary Blair was a color stylist and designer for Disney in the 1940's. She has illustrated many fabulous books, and her work is just all around amazing. I love her bright use of color and her sweet, sweet characters. I recently picked up a copy of The Art and Flair of Mary Blair at a used book shop and I can't wait to read more about her life and work.

Some of my favorite parts of the book are these color concepts she did for the It's a Small World theme park.

Love this! Concept for the Disney Short, The Little House, based on the great book by Virginia Lee Burton.

Isn't this illustration beyond sweet? This was for some freelance she did after her time at Disney.

I am fortunate to have this book in my collection as well, what a gem! Unfortunately, my copy is close to pieces after many years of love by both my mother and I, so it's a special copy. Hopefully soon I can share some photos of the interior with you because it is quite lovely.
